Feel better now?
"Kashi, how do you feel after all that yoga on the beach? Tell us, does it actually work?"
"Well, SP, do I look like the kind of guy who gets upset about the ups and downs of life. I just take it all in my stride and when things get overwhelming I jump in the sea with my snorkel or bake a muffin. What meltdown? Living in an ashram I am at a slight advantage as I do have a direct hotline to you know who, he always gets me what I need. Come visit me and see."
14. Actually get up in time to meditate in front of a sunrise.
This is a good time to check in with G-d and tell him about your woes or dreams or ask him politely to speed up that old master plan of his to make your life perfect in every respect.
(He is probably a bit overwhelmed right now himself with the global mess that everyone and their dog seems to be swept up in and I am sure his 3G iphone is probably ringing off the hook.
So perhaps start by saying , "G-d I understand you have a lot on your plate right now, as we all do, but remember the soul mate you promised me 15 years ago, well I am still waiting and my hair is getting a tad grayer and I would like to meet him before I am sixty so could you maybe just bump me a up a bit on the queue. I don't have to be at the front but can you NOT do the list in alphabetical order or by country as United States is a little far back on the alphabet. Thanks. I promise to light the candles every Friday night from now. In sales we are taught the importance of quid pro quo. You do something for me and I will do something for me. Try bargaining with G-d too, anything to catch his attention.
13. Live dangerously and go on a jet ski and pick up the pace a little. If you have been feeling sluggish and like you just want to hibernate under the pillows until the year 2020 when hopefully our meltdown will have subsided a bit, doing the exact opposite may be just what you need to wake you up and get you motivated to kick start your life. ( You may also pick up a girl by impressing her with your jet ski prowess and so hopefully end the two year celibacy period)
Here is my beloved Captain Dave and he has never looked more manly than when he was racing through the seas on a high powered jet ski. Go Dave!
11. Take some time to yourself and sit in solitude and get totally absorbed in a good book. Peter is delving into a spiritual, mind altering text most appropiate for an ashram, but I for one am a big fan of the cartoons in the New Yorker.
People have been reading books for centuries and some folk are still reading today, I am quite sure of it. Now that there is the kendle, a mini iphone book reader, you can read anywhere anytime without the effort of lugging a choice of heavy books around.
9. Do something creative. For advanced practitioners and spiritual artists like Kashi here, this might involve something simple like throwing together a quick yanta painting or two to decorate an ashram temple.
But for the rest of us ohter options might be to start your very own blog, or take a photo with your phone and post it to Flikr or Facebook to give it a bit more publicity value. Now anyone can do that. Take just one photo a day.
7. Try a religious ceremony, like lighting the candles on Friday night, which I did last night by myself. ( It was a bit sad and lonely but I made up for it by going to two parties afterwards).
Why it helps?
Because you are reaching out to G-d. Remember there is someone out there bigger than you, who is keeping an eye on you and watching out for you but you do have to say hello sometimes and check in and remind him you are still there and you still need his help. Chances are he has a terrific master plan for you in the long run. Let's hope the plan will work better than the new Geitner government public/private bank partnership which is supposed to get the banks lending again.
5. If you can't do a headstand, don't worry. ( I realize I missed out 5)
Be Horizontal- lie down, close your eyes, palms up facing the air. Let go, feel your body sink into the ground.
Forget about everything, your uncompleted taxes, your recently lost job, your rising debt, the highest unemployment figures in the century, China's build up of it's military, the failure of the G20 summit to save the western countries escalating decline, your home repossession, your increasing inches on your waist, your total lack of anything that might be described as a love life, your non voluntary two years of celibacy, your perpetual state of lonliness and despair, your repeated failure at anything that might be called a relationship... Yup. FORGET IT ALL.
And repeat after me .. Everything's gonna be alright. Everything's gonna be alright. Everything's gonna be alright.
Even if you don't believe it. Have faith, hope and trust that the universe always provides. At least that is what people keep telling me so I may as well tell you lot.

6. Stand on your head. You will see that things appear much more normal if you are upside down to start with. All the tension drains away and goes into the sand. (I use a towel so I don't get sand in my hair but that is because I am the SP. )
Start with these tips and let me know how it goes, you can contact me on the SP Blog help me now hotline and or follow me on Twitter and Facebook for direct consultations. ( I just remembered it was me needing the help but if I need it chances are you need it too...)
How about that for a new years resolution in April.
Hey, do you have a few minutes to spare as I stopped seeing my therapist a few years ago as she was in her 90's and I felt I kept repeating myself and getting nowhere. So now all I have is you guys, you are always there, my loving and loyal subjects, 18500 of you last I checked on my site counter.
I confess the meltdown is getting to me, is it getting to you? I have been feeling overwhelmed and stressed and constantly anxious. I need to write my blog so I can start laughing again. Now I have to run to a party in an artist's loft. Report more soon. Flowers, cards, chocolates, welcome. I am just stressed, it is normal in our new upside down world.
This flower is from the Bahamas my favorite yoga retreat on Paradise Island. Now I feel better looking at it's beauty. If you are feeling low think of this as a facebook status update and send me your comments or say " like'".
